Revolutionizing the filmmaking industry, Lightcraft's Spark promises to function as the equivalent of Google Docs for 3D, potentially transforming the way filmmakers collaborate and create.

3D film production might witness a revolutionary change with the introduction of Lightcraft's Spark, dubbed the "Google Docs of 3D."

Lightcraft Technology is set to unveil Spark, a groundbreaking collaborative filmmaking platform, at SIGGRAPH 2025 (Booth 710). This innovative platform is designed to revolutionize the filmmaking preproduction process by providing a browser-based, all-in-one collaborative hub that integrates story development, virtual cinematography, team communication, asset management, and post-production prep within a single connected space.

At the heart of Spark is Spark Shot, an interactive scene builder that allows filmmakers to visualize and experiment with scenes using 3D models, photogrammetry scans, audio clips, and AI-generated assists. With Spark Shot, directors and cinematographers can virtually "pre-shoot" scenes, transforming what was once an expensive, infrequent activity into a flexible, anytime process.

Spark's AI is designed to support creativity and can be used for camera framing suggestions and full 3D scene assembly. It is particularly effective in projects that combine green screen and digital sets, using AI to fill in photorealistic details based on low-resolution 3D proxies of environments, such as cracked plaster, wood grain, or lighting imperfections.

The platform also includes Spark Forge, a tool that transforms rough scenes into usable post-production materials, automating key steps in the VFX pipeline. Spark Forge can automate tracking, batch compositing, asset linking, and shot scripting, using metadata from the Lightcraft Jetset app and timeline exports like OpenTimelineIO.

Spark is not intended to replace the craft or automate away the magic of filmmaking, but to give filmmakers a head start and keep momentum going, all the way through post-production. It is accessible and can be used on a laptop, making it an invaluable tool for both studios and independents.

Spark Atlas, a production database, understands scripts and links each element to the correct assets, creating a living blueprint of the film. Built on open-source technology like Supabase and PostgreSQL, Spark Atlas is secure, scalable, and team-friendly.

Eliot Mack, CEO of Lightcraft Technology, believes Spark opens new freedoms in how films are created, giving storytellers freedom at the very start, not just the end. He sees Spark as a shift in the timing of creativity in filmmaking, focusing on the point of inception.

The public release of Spark is expected in 2026. In the meantime, the Lightcraft Jetset app is available for early access and beta signups, offering a preview of Spark. This app allows filmmakers to experiment with the platform's features and collaborate with their teams, providing a glimpse into the future of film production.

With Spark, filmmakers can focus on creative storytelling and shot design first, accelerating iteration and enhancing team collaboration. The platform eliminates traditional production barriers and centralizes all key aspects of the filmmaking pipeline into a browser-accessible platform, making film production more accessible and efficient than ever before.

  1. Spark, the innovative platform by Lightcraft Technology, will feature Spark Shot, an interactive scene builder that utilizes 3D models, photogrammetry scans, and AI-generated assists for virtual pre-shooting.
  2. The collaborative filmmaking platform, Spark, will revolutionize preproduction with features like virtual cinematography, team communication, and post-production prep within a single connected space.
  3. In the platform, Spark Forge automates key steps in the VFX pipeline, linking assets and streamlining tasks through metadata from the Lightcraft Jetset app and timeline exports like OpenTimelineIO.
  4. Spark Atlas, a production database in the platform, understands scripts and links each element to the correct assets, creating a living blueprint of the film, built on secure and scalable open-source technology.
  5. The CEO of Lightcraft Technology, Eliot Mack, views Spark as opening new freedoms in film creation, focusing on creativity at the start of the process rather than just the end.
  6. Moviemakers can experiment with Spark's features and collaborate with their teams using the Lightcraft Jetset app, which is available for early access and beta signups as a sneak peek into the future of film production.
  7. By using Spark, filmmakers can invest their energy in creative storytelling and shot design first, eliminating traditional production barriers and centralizing key aspects of the filmmaking pipeline into a browser-accessible platform, making film production more accessible and efficient.
