ADS-TEC Energy Expands US Reach, Adapts to NACS Standard
ADS-TEC Energy, a German innovator in battery-based fast charging systems, is expanding its reach in the US market. Listed on NASDAQ in 2021 and established in Auburn, Alabama in 2022, the company is adapting its offerings to support both CCS1 and the emerging NACS standards.
ADS-TEC Energy's flagship product, the ChargeBox, delivers up to 320 kW of charging power without additional grid expansion. This high-power charging solution caters to the growing demand for fast, reliable charging infrastructure in both urban and rural areas.
The company's CEO, Thomas Speidel, expressed confidence in ADS-TEC's ability to develop solutions for any future charging standard in the US. This adaptability is crucial, given the recent announcements by Ford, General Motors, and Rivian to adopt the North America Charging Standard (NACS) alongside CCS1. Tesla, having open-sourced its NACS design in 2022, is also set to transition to this standard in 2025-2026. ADS-TEC's existing CCS1 charging systems can already accommodate NACS vehicles using a plug adapter, ensuring compatibility during this shift.
ADS-TEC Energy's nomination for the German Future Prize and elevation to the 'Circle of Excellence' in 2022 underscores its innovative approach. As major automakers embrace the NACS standard, ADS-TEC Energy is well-positioned to provide fast, reliable charging solutions for electric vehicles in the US market.
