AI chatbots to be introduced in every school across Brandenburg
In a significant move towards modernizing education technology, Brandenburg has announced the introduction of an AI chatbot named "Telli" in all its public schools starting from the 2025/2026 school year. This makes Brandenburg the second federal state, following Bremen, to adopt this innovative technology across the board.
The AI application, "Telli", is a joint project of the federal states and has been designed to support teachers in lesson planning and can also be used by students for learning. According to Education Minister Steffen Freiberg (SPD), "our schools will thus have secure and data-protection-compliant access to modern AI technology" with the introduction of "Telli".
"Telli" has already been tested at 25 schools in Brandenburg and has shown promising results. It is intended to support teachers in creating letters to parents, setting up learning scenarios for lessons, and creating worksheets. The chatbot is also multilingual, enabling it to process various languages.
The decision to introduce "Telli" comes as Education Minister Freiberg acknowledges that digitalization and AI are part of a societal megatrend in the education sector. He believes that the integration of such technology will help schools keep pace with the times and provide students with the best possible learning environment.
