Akamai Promotes James Richmond to ANZ Regional Director, Expands Cloud Services

Akamai Technologies has promoted James Richmond to Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Richmond, based in Melbourne, joined the company in 2014 and has since focused on security and compliance in regulated sectors.

Before Akamai, Richmond worked at tech giants IBM Australia and Cisco Systems in Australia. He also held roles at Computershare and First Data (now Fiserv). Richmond's impressive track record has earned praise from Parimal Pandya, Akamai's SVP Sales and Managing Director, Asia Pacific & Japan.

Richmond holds a Bachelor of Economics and Commerce Management from Monash University and a Diploma in Financial Management from FINSIA. In his new role, he will report directly to Pandya.

Akamai has announced plans to set up an enterprise-scale core cloud computing site in Auckland, mirroring its Sydney site. The company will also open a Scrubbing Centre in Auckland to combat distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. These expansions follow the launch of Akamai Connected Cloud, a massively distributed edge and cloud platform for cloud computing, security, and content delivery.

James Richmond's promotion to Regional Director for ANZ reflects Akamai's commitment to expanding its presence and services in the region. The company's plans to establish a core cloud computing site and Scrubbing Centre in Auckland demonstrate its dedication to enhancing security and cloud capabilities for its clients.
