Alpha Trains Orders 15 More Vectron Dual-Mode Locomotives from Siemens
Alpha Trains has ordered 15 more Vectron Dual-Mode locomotives (VDM) from Siemens Mobility. These advanced trains can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h and operate on both electrified and non-electrified tracks, making them intelligent and sustainable solutions, according to Vincent Pouyet, CEO of Alpha Trains' Locomotives business area.
The new Vectrons will supplement Alpha Trains' existing fleet, which includes Vectron AC, MS, and Dual-Mode models. They are designed for use in Germany and Austria, with a maximum power output of 2.4 megawatts in electric mode and 2 megawatts in diesel mode. The order is part of the framework agreement signed between Alpha Trains and Siemens Mobility in July 2024.
The service contract covers the maintenance of the newly ordered Vectron Dual-Mode locomotives. These are being produced in the Siemens Mobility plant in Munich-Allach.
Alpha Trains' latest acquisition of Vectron Dual-Mode locomotives demonstrates their commitment to modern, efficient, and sustainable rail transport. The new trains will enhance their fleet's versatility and performance, serving both German and Austrian routes.
