Altech Batteries Ltd's Cerenergy Battery Project Funding Advancing Smoothly
Altech Batteries Limited, a specialty battery technology company, is making significant strides in its CERENERGY® SAS battery project, with plans to construct a 100MWh production facility on its land in Saxony, Germany. This facility will primarily produce CERENERGY® battery modules, targeting grid storage solutions.
The project is a joint venture with the German Fraunhofer IKTS institute, and Altech is making considerable progress in securing funding for the project. Involvement from a major European bank and ongoing strategic partner searches indicate a promising future for the venture.
Three key Letters of Intent (LOIs) have been secured for 100% of the planned CERENERGY® battery production, including with Zweckverband Industriepark Schwarze Pumpe (ZISP), a local industrial authority in Saxony. This demonstrates strong market demand and preliminary sales commitments.
The CERENERGY® SAS battery offers significant advantages, such as being lithium-free, cobalt-free, graphite-free, and copper-free. It is also fire and explosion-proof, designed for a long life (over 15 years), and capable of operating in extreme cold and desert climates. The focus is on grid storage applications as a safer and more sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries.
While Altech has related development activities in Saxony around Silumina Anodes™, a silicon-alumina coated anode material for lithium-ion batteries, these activities are separate from the CERENERGY® SAS battery production facility.
As of July 2025, the CERENERGY® 100 MWh production facility in Saxony is actively progressing through financing and offtake stages, with construction yet to commence publicly. However, with strong partnerships and LOIs secured, the company is well-positioned to leverage its proprietary battery technology in the growing European market, targeting commercial scale production shortly.

In the pursuit of commercial scale production, Altech Batteries Limited is collaborating with the German Fraunhofer IKTS institute to secure financing for the CERENERGY® 100 MWh production facility in Saxony, Germany. This facility, slated for grid storage solutions, has secured key Letters of Intent (LOIs) from prominent partners such as Zweckverband Industriepark Schwarze Pumpe (ZISP), indicating a promising future in the European finance and technology industries.
The CERENERGY® SAS battery, due to its lithium-free, cobalt-free, graphite-free, and copper-free composition, along with its fire and explosion-proof design, represents a significant advancement in the finance and technology sectors, offering a safer and more sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries for the industry.
