Amazon introduces Kindle Colorsoft in UAE and Saudi Arabia, enabling colorful book reading experiences
The tech giant, Amazon, has expanded its Kindle lineup with the launch of the new Kindle Colorsoft e-readers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This marks the regional debut of Amazon's colour-display Kindle range.
The Kindle Colorsoft aims to revolutionise the reading experience by offering a vibrant and immersive multimedia experience. The e-readers feature a 7-inch Colorsoft E Ink display that showcases book covers, graphic novels, and illustrations in full colour at 150 ppi, while offering a sharp 300 ppi resolution for black and white text, mimicking a paper-like reading experience.
Amazon has introduced two new models apart from the original Signature Edition: a regular Kindle Colorsoft with 16GB storage and a Kindle Colorsoft Kids edition. The Kids edition comes with built-in kid-friendly content and accessories. The 16GB standard model drops features like wireless charging and the ambient light sensor present in the Signature Edition, making it more affordable while keeping other core features intact.
The Kindle Colorsoft Kids model is designed with durability in mind, featuring waterproofing that can withstand 60 minutes submerged in 2 meters of water. It also comes with a kid-friendly cover and a 2-year worry-free warranty with replacement if broken.
Other key features include an adjustable warm frontlight that ranges from bright white to soft amber, enhancing reading comfort under different lighting conditions. The device also supports free cloud storage for Amazon-purchased content and allows users to browse book covers in colour.
The new Kindle Colorsoft e-reader boasts a long battery life, lasting for weeks on a single charge, and reaches full power in under 2.5 hours. The base model is priced at Dh959 in the UAE and SAR1,069 in Saudi Arabia, while the Signature Edition is priced at Dh1,079 in the UAE and SAR1,199 in Saudi Arabia.
The launch of the Kindle Colorsoft aligns with Amazon's broader push to enhance digital reading across the Middle East. The device is designed to appeal to both long-time Kindle users and first-time buyers, and its introduction comes in response to growing interest in e-readers and audiobooks across the region.
Users can highlight passages using multiple colour options on the Kindle Colorsoft, and the device supports illustrations and images in full tone. The new Kindle Colorsoft e-reader is not equipped with wireless charging or an auto-adjusting front light, unlike the Signature Edition. However, it offers a unique and engaging reading experience, making it an attractive option for readers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
