Amazon is working on a 'Wolfenstein' television series, with Kilter Films – known for 'Fallout' production – and writer Patrick Somerville involved.

The world of gaming is about to collide with the small screen as Amazon MGM Studios is currently developing a TV series adaptation of the iconic Wolfenstein video game franchise. With no specific plot details revealed yet, the project promises to be an exciting addition to Amazon's growing lineup of game-based TV shows.

The Wolfenstein series, which has largely centered on U.S. World War II solider William "B.J." Blazkowicz, has helped popularize first-person shooter video games since its inception with Wolfenstein 3D in 1992. The official logline of the show simply states: "The story of killing Nazis is evergreen."

Patrick Somerville, known for his work on shows like The Leftovers and Station Eleven, will serve as the creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the series. Somerville's involvement in the project is a testament to his versatility in the TV space, having also created the shows "Maniac" at Netflix and "Station Eleven" at HBO Max.

Joining Somerville are notable producers from the Fallout TV series, including Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham, along with MachineGames' Jerk Gustafsson, the developer of the modern Wolfenstein games. James Altman of Keyframe Films and Jerk Gustafsson will also executive produce.

The Nazis in the games are not your ordinary adversaries. They are engaged in bizarre experiments and the occult, aiming to tip the scales of the war in their favour. As Blazkowicz, the player goes behind enemy lines to fight these sinister forces.

Amazon has multiple other projects in development based on games, including a "Mass Effect" TV series, a "God of War" series, and a series based on the tabletop wargame "Warhammer 40,000" starring Henry Cavill.

In addition to his work in television, Somerville is also a novelist, having published the books "The Cradle" and "The Bright River" along with the short story collections "The Universe in Miniature in Miniature" and "Trouble."

Kilter Films, the production company behind the project, is known for producing "The Peripheral" starring Chloe Grace Moretz for Amazon, as well as for the hit series "Westworld" at HBO and "Person of Interest" at CBS. Kilter Films is currently producing the hit Prime Video series "Fallout," which has been renewed for a third season.

As for the release date, no official date has been announced as of late July 2025. The series is still reported to be in development, and the release schedule has not been disclosed in any of the sources.

Intriguingly, Kilter Films is also partnering with Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society to produce the TV adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' adult fantasy novel "Fourth Wing" for Amazon.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new venture!
