Apple Addresses iPhone 17 Pro 'Scratchgate' With New Cleaning Method
Apple is addressing the 'scratchgate' issue affecting its iPhone 17 Pro model. The company has introduced a new cleaning method for its retail employees, involving a mix of its usual cleaning solution and salt, to tackle the issue of scratches on the back panel of the iPhone 17 Pro. While it may not fix scratches on the aluminum, particularly around the camera bump, it has shown success in removing the material causing the scratches on the back panel. The cause of the aluminum scratches is believed to be an issue with the anodization not adhering well on the sharp corners. A test using common sea salt was successful in removing the transferred materials from dirty MagSafe attachments, which are believed to be the cause of the scratches. Apple's new cleaning method is now being used by retail employees to address the 'scratchgate' issue affecting the iPhone 17 Pro. While it may not fix all types of scratches, it does help to remove the material causing the issue on the back panel.
