Schneider Electric Introduces AI-Powered Process Safety Technology

Schneider Electric, a leading company in digital transformation for energy management and automation, has made a significant stride in the field of industrial safety with the introduction of a new patent that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) specifically to reduce hazards in process safety.

The latest development by Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure Triconex Safety team is aimed at enhancing safety performance and risk reduction in industrial operations. This innovation marks a significant step in applying AI technology to industrial automation.

The AI-based approach offers several advantages. It automates risk assessment, real-time monitoring, and anomaly detection, reducing the likelihood of incidents while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.

One of the key features of this technology is its ability to generate more combinations of scenarios and deviations than what was humanly possible before. This capability enables process safety management to take advantage of industrial, real-time data to revalidate HAZOP studies.

The AI technology is used to identify potential hazards and safeguards in a process, and it can automatically or semi-automatically analyze potential process hazards and validate protection mechanisms. It also allows for the simulation of hazards under varying conditions, providing a comprehensive safety management solution.

Schneider Electric's senior director of offer management, Chris Stogner, stated that they are the first to automate the hazard process analysis with AI. The company's EcoStruxure Triconex Safety Systems combine traditional safety instrumented systems with AI analytics to enhance decision-making, automate hazard detection, and optimize safety management across asset lifecycles.

This AI-powered safety solution works in conjunction with digital twins, simulation, and open data platforms to provide a comprehensive safety management system that reduces risk and operational costs.

Three other Schneider Electric patents incorporating AI into functional safety lifecycle are currently pending. The interest in combining human ingenuity in functional safety analysis with the implementation of reinforcement learning to prevent hazardous scenarios in industrial automation is growing.

This AI-based approach has the potential to prevent industrial hazards and save lives, making it a significant step forward in the field of industrial safety. By leveraging real-time data analytics and intelligent automation, Schneider Electric's latest advancement promises to revolutionize the way industries approach process safety management.

The AI-powered Process Safety Technology developed by Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure Triconex Safety team integrates artificial-intelligence, aiming to increase safety performance and risk reduction in industrial operations. This innovation utilizes AI technology to automate risk assessment, real-time monitoring, and anomaly detection, ultimately preventing potential hazards and safeguarding life.
