Artificial Intelligence takes precedence over intuition in the garage setting
In a groundbreaking webinar hosted by the AUTOHAUS Academy, over 180 participants gathered to learn about the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in car dealerships. The event highlighted the benefits of AI for sales, service, and internal operations, as demonstrated by various companies.
Andreas Weeber, a referent and car dealership owner, is one such pioneer. He uses AI for order preparation and chatbots for standard inquiries in the service department, reducing the effort for appointment preparation to just a few minutes. This efficiency not only benefits him but also his customers, who enjoy comprehensive support.
Businesses, too, see increased turnover due to AI's ability to handle mandatory queries such as accident prevention regulations. A prime example is Autohaus Kunzmann, which uses a voicebot to relieve the IT helpdesk. This innovation has reduced weekly working hours to 36 hours, allowing two employees to be moved to second-level or service support. A ticket system complements the voicebot solution, with initial figures showing 31 percent of calls successfully handled.
The 10-80-10 rule ensures that humans maintain control while processes are accelerated by AI. AI agents can be connected to internal sources such as DMS, CRM, and PDF and Office documents for automation. Scalability is achieved through a cloud and modular architecture.
Experts advise starting locally and in compliance with GDPR when implementing AI. Platforms like Open WebUI allow for the creation of isolated work environments for initial automations. Open-source tools like n8n are suitable for collaboration between multiple AI agents.
Successful AI implementation requires a clear structure, including a KI board, data strategy, and defined key performance indicators (KPIs). Governance with clear guidelines and a closed startup setup are also crucial. Measurable KPIs make success measurable and manageable, while consistent implementation in operations is the key to long-term success.
Tamara Weeber, AI responsible at Autohaus Weeber, emphasizes the goal of involving all employees and age groups to create broad acceptance for AI. This inclusive approach ensures a smooth transition and fosters a positive attitude towards the technology.
Companies involved in the use of artificial intelligence in car dealerships include Loco-Soft (providing dealer management software), two S GmbH and effisma.group (partnering to offer integrated digital solutions for car trade involving process automation and system integration), and ZF (as a system partner for Vinfast supplying sensor fusion technology for automated driving functions).
Technology and standards for AI implementation are now widely available. Scaling can be targeted after a successful initial implementation of AI, as demonstrated during the webinar. The takeaway message is clear: AI is transforming the car trade, and businesses that embrace this technology stand to reap significant benefits.
