Audemars Piguet Unveils Royal Oak 'Jumbo' RD#5 for 150th Anniversary
Audemars Piguet unveils the Royal Oak 'Jumbo' Extra-Thin RD#5, a limited-edition timepiece celebrating the brand's 150th anniversary. This 5th model in the RD series combines innovative materials and groundbreaking mechanics.
The RD#5 features a 39mm case combining titanium and Audemars Piguet's proprietary Bulk Metallic Glass (BMG) for exceptional scratch-resistance and lightness. Inside, the new in-house Calibre 8100 movement introduces a rack-and-pinion reset mechanism, reducing pusher travel and activation force, offering a faster, more responsive chronograph with tactile feedback akin to a smartphone button. This mechanism, developed by Audemars Piguet's internal design team, houses both a flyback chronograph and a flying tourbillon in the slim 8.1mm case.
The RD series, launched in 2015, aims to push watchmaking boundaries. Previous models include a 6.3mm Royal Oak with an automatic perpetual calendar and a Code 11.59 with 23 complications. The RD#5 continues this tradition, priced at CHF 260,000 (~$325,930) and limited to 150 pieces.
The Royal Oak 'Jumbo' RD#5 is now available through Audemars Piguet boutiques, offering collectors a unique blend of innovation, craftsmanship, and exclusivity to mark the brand's 150th anniversary.
