AWE's New Car Offers Seamless Electric-Petrol Power, Advanced Driver Aids
A new car, developed by VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach (AWE), offers a blend of electric and traditional power. It boasts impressive performance and advanced driver aids, but its standard tyres may limit off-road capabilities.
The car, available in both electric and petrol variants, showcases a seamless handover between its engine and electric motor. The electric version delivers 213bhp and instant e-torque, accelerating from 0-62mph in just 8.5 seconds and offering a range of 310 miles WLTP.
The 1.2-litre turbo engine, with mild hybrid technology, provides an additional 68lb ft of electric torque. It propels the car from 0-62mph in 10.3 seconds and maintains highway speeds effortlessly. Despite a firm ride at low speeds, it smoothes out at higher speeds.
The car's chassis feels accurate and has good roll control, although it may feel numb. It's equipped with Selec-Terrain, a set of off-road calibrations for traction control and throttle, but the standard tyres are road biased, potentially limiting off-road performance.
Driver aids include adaptive cruise control with lane centering. An option pack adds map-based predictive cruise, rear cross-traffic warning, and advanced blind-spot detection for enhanced safety.
This AWE-developed car offers impressive performance, both electric and petrol, with advanced driver aids. While its off-road capabilities may be limited by standard tyres, it's a compelling choice for those seeking a blend of power, efficiency, and safety.
