Germany is currently grappling with a significant increase in cybercrime cases, as reported in 2025. This surge is attributed to a rise in cyberattacks, including phishing and cryptocurrency thefts, accompanied by a sharp rise in public awareness of cyber threats.

In the Q2 of 2025, weekly cyberattacks per organization globally averaged 1,984, marking a 21% year-on-year increase, with Europe experiencing the highest regional rise. Germany, as part of Europe, is strongly impacted, particularly sectors like government and telecommunications.

Phishing remains a prevalent tactic, with attackers increasingly using AI to create convincing emails rapidly. Cryptocurrency thefts in Germany are also on the rise, contributing to the overall increase in cybercrime.

The German cybersecurity market has grown significantly, reaching USD 14.02 billion in 2025 and projected to near USD 23.89 billion by 2030. This growth reflects increased investments in cybersecurity driven by regulatory mandates, digital transformation, and Industry 4.0 security imperatives.
