BelNPP Continues Operations, Second Unit Set for November Maintenance
The Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) continues to operate, generating electricity as indicated by steam from its units. Director Sergei Bobovich has announced that the second unit will undergo planned maintenance in November.
Residents have previously observed white smoke or water vapor rising from the cooling towers of the BelNPP, a common sight in nuclear energy facilities. The Radiation Safety Center has confirmed no increase in radiation levels in Lithuania or Vilnius. On October 7th, a large column of steam was seen near the Ostrovets NPP, but authorities reassured the public that it posed no threat.
During the upcoming maintenance, a quarter of the fuel in the second unit will be replaced. Specific details about the maintenance work and the leading team remain unavailable, as such information is often not publicly disclosed or regularly updated.
The BelNPP continues to function as intended, with no radiation level concerns reported. The upcoming maintenance in November will ensure the plant's safety and efficiency. Residents are advised to stay informed through official sources for any updates on the maintenance process.
