BMW iX3L Coming to China in Mid-2026 With More Rear Passenger Space
BMW is set to launch the iX3L in China by mid-2026, a stretched version of the popular iX3. This new model promises more space for rear passengers, rivalling the size of the BMW X5.
The regular iX3 measures 188.1 inches (4,780 mm) in length. The iX3L, however, will be closer to the X5's 193 inches (4,902 mm), providing significantly more room for rear passengers. This increased length is due to a stretched wheelbase, exclusive to the Chinese market NA6 iX3 model.
To enhance comfort, the iX3L will offer a greater reclining angle for rear seats and extended thigh support. Additionally, it will feature rear door cards with ambient lighting accents, a feature not available in the US market. Despite these changes, the iX3L will retain the same power and torque figures as the regular iX3.
BMW CEO Oliver Zipse presented the iX3L during the 2025 Annual General Meeting, but the specific project manager for the NA6 iX3 in China was not mentioned.
The iX3L, with its increased rear passenger space and comfort features, is expected to cater to the Chinese market's preferences. Its launch in mid-2026 will provide Chinese customers with a more spacious option in the BMW iX series.
