BMW Unveils 2026 M5 Hybrid: 717 HP, 738 lb-ft Torque

BMW has unveiled the 2026 M5, the second model year of its latest iteration, boasting a hybrid powertrain that delivers an impressive 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The high-performance sedan and Touring models are now available, with the latter offering substantial cargo space.

The 2026 M5 is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with mild hybrid capabilities, paired with an electric motor. This powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive, ensuring exceptional performance. The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, with the Touring model closely behind at 3.5 seconds.

The M5 Touring offers a spacious 18 cubic feet of cargo space, which expands to a generous 58 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Despite its performance capabilities, the M5 sedan is rated at 14 mpg combined, while the Touring model achieves 13 mpg combined. Both models come equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies.

In Germany, the M5 Touring was available for order in 2025, with a typical delivery time of about 90 days after placing an order. However, specific dealerships might have experienced individual delays or limited allocations, but there was no nationwide unavailability of the model.

The 2026 BMW M5, with a starting price of $121,900 for the sedan and $123,900 for the Touring, offers an impressive blend of power, performance, and practicality. With its advanced powertrain, generous cargo space, and comprehensive safety features, the M5 continues to set the standard in the high-performance sedan segment.
