Broadens Scope of Derivatives Trading Operations by Liquidnet
In a strategic move to expand its listed derivatives offering throughout Continental Europe, Liquidnet, a leading technology-driven agency execution specialist, has announced two senior appointments.
Oliver Deutschmann has joined Liquidnet as Head of Equity Derivatives, EMEA. With over 15 years of experience in equity derivatives and related roles within major financial institutions, Deutschmann brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Most recently, he served as Head of Equity Derivatives for Credit Suisse, where he led the redevelopment of the equities flow derivatives business in Germany and Austria. Prior to that, he held several senior roles, including Head of Exchange-Traded Derivatives (ETD) Fixed Income Sales for Germany and Austria at UBS and a Sales Trader position at Commerzbank.
Deutschmann's role at Liquidnet focuses on client acquisition across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and overseeing the expansion of Liquidnet's equity derivatives capabilities and its broader listed derivatives business in Continental Europe. He is driving the integration of technology-led, buy-side focused models into new asset classes, aiming to unlock synergies and deepen liquidity access in the region. His leadership involves establishing local teams in key European hubs to tailor services better for buy-side clients.
In a comment, Deutschmann stated, "I am excited to join Liquidnet and lead the expansion of its Equity Derivatives capabilities in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. I look forward to working with our clients to deliver a more tailored service offering and deepen liquidity access in the region."
In addition, Juan Ferrer Pons has been appointed as Listed Derivatives Sales Trader, based in Madrid, focusing on supporting Members in Continental Europe with tailored liquidity solutions. Ferrer Pons spent the majority of his career at BBVA, where he held various trading roles across Funds of Hedge Funds (FoHF) and Equity Derivatives. His role at Liquidnet is focused specifically on supporting Members, while Deutschmann's role includes client acquisition and overseeing the deployment of Liquidnet's Equity Derivatives capabilities.
The appointment of Ferrer Pons is aimed at deepening access to liquidity in the region. The move into Equity Derivatives is a natural next step in the evolution of Liquidnet's Listed Derivatives business, allowing them to bring their technology-led, buy-side focused model into new asset classes.
This move aligns with Liquidnet’s strategy to leverage its existing equities and fixed income strengths to offer multi-asset solutions through an agency-focused platform, reflecting growing demand from institutional investors for comprehensive listed derivatives access. The new appointments reflect Liquidnet's ongoing efforts to expand its Listed Derivatives offering throughout Continental Europe.
