Burris Optics, a subsidiary of Beretta Holding Group, has announced the release of its fifth-generation Fullfield riflescope for 2025. Based in Greeley, Colo., the company has been a pioneer in the optics industry since its inception in 1971.

Founded by Don Burris with a mission to improve riflescope performance, the company introduced its Fullfield line of riflescopes in 1975. These scopes offered 53 percent more field of view (FOV) than conventional scopes and 23 percent greater FOV than wide-angle scopes of the time. The original Fullfield scope models were offered in 4X, 2-7X, and 3-9X magnification.

In 1980, Burris Optics expanded its Fullfield product line to include "mini-scope" variants for carbines and compact rifles, as well as fixed-power models offering long eye relief for Model 1894 Winchesters and pistols.

One of the most significant advancements in Burris Optics' history came in 1977 with the introduction of Hi-Lume lenses. These lenses enhanced visibility by 20 percent due to 99.5 percent light transmission through each lens surface. This innovation set Burris Optics apart from its competitors and has been a key factor in the success of the Fullfield riflescope.

After 50 years, the Burris Fullfield riflescope is still in production and remains a favourite among hunters. The fifth-generation Fullfield riflescope maintains the company's "hunter first" approach to engineering, delivering the performance every shooter expects. It retains the wide FOV characteristics that the Burris legend was built upon, providing a clear and expansive view of the target area.

Beretta Holding Group, the parent company of Burris Optics, has a workforce of over 6,200 employees across the globe. The company's commitment to innovation and quality has been evident in the continued success of the Burris Fullfield riflescope.

From its humble beginnings in 1971 to the introduction of the fifth-generation Fullfield riflescope in 2016 and beyond, Burris Optics has been a leader in the optics industry. The Fullfield riflescope has been taken afield by multiple generations of passionate and demanding hunters, and it continues to be a trusted companion for outdoor enthusiasts around the world.
