Lloyds Bank Introduces Barcode Cash Deposit Feature

Lloyds Bank has introduced a new 'barcode cash deposit' feature, offering customers a convenient and secure way to deposit cash without needing to visit a bank branch or ATM. This innovative service allows customers to deposit cash by generating a barcode in the 'Everyday' area of their Lloyds mobile app.

To use the feature, customers simply open the Lloyds app, go to the 'Everyday' section, enter the cash amount they wish to deposit, and generate a barcode that is valid for two hours. They can then visit any of over 30,000 PayPoint locations nationwide, where the barcode is scanned, enabling the cash deposit. Customers can deposit up to £300 per day in notes and coins, with a monthly maximum of £600.

The new service leverages the extensive PayPoint network, which is available within one mile of approximately 99.5% of the UK population. Over 94% of PayPoint outlets are open seven days a week, offering flexible hours. Customers can also still deposit cash at any Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branch, or at more than 11,500 Post Offices across the UK.

The barcode cash deposit feature launched on 26 August 2025 as part of Lloyds Bank’s strategy to adapt to branch closures and the decline of high-street banking, providing a modern, integrated way of handling cash deposits aligned with digital banking convenience.

How to Use the Barcode Cash Deposit Feature

  1. Open the Lloyds app and go to the ‘Everyday’ section.
  2. Enter the cash amount to deposit.
  3. Generate a barcode valid for 2 hours.
  4. Visit a PayPoint store and scan the barcode to pay in cash.

Where to Use the Barcode Cash Deposit Feature

  • Over 30,000 PayPoint locations across the UK (shops such as convenience stores and newsagents that offer PayPoint services).
  • Traditional banking options like Lloyds/Halifax/Bank of Scotland branches and Post Offices remain available.

Customers can find their nearest PayPoint location using the Lloyds app or on the PayPoint website. The ability to make cash deposits at PayPoint locations does not affect the availability of traditional deposit methods.

  1. Customers can now manage their savings more effectively with the new barcode cash deposit feature introduced by Lloyds Bank, which is a part of their ongoing efforts to integrate finance and technology in the banking sector.
  2. This innovative service not only allows customers to deposit cash conveniently, but also offers them the flexibility to do so at over 30,000 PayPoint locations across the UK, all while ensuring a secure transaction.
  3. With this feature, Lloyds Bank is investing in the future of digital banking, providing a modern solution for businesses to handle their cash deposits, aligning with the decline of high-street banking and branch closures.
