Chinese Innovation: Introducing AION V Plus, a Compact Crossover SUV from the East

The Chinese automotive market is abuzz with the upcoming release of the Aion UT, an electric hatchback that promises to rival models like the BYD Dolphin. Positioned as a competitor in the compact EV segment, the Aion UT aims to attract city drivers with a blend of style, technology, and practical range.

### Key Features and Specifications

The Aion UT boasts dimensions of 4270 mm in length, 1850 mm in width, and 1575 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. This slightly larger size compared to its main competitor offers a bit more cabin space and presence in its class.

Under the hood, the Aion UT is powered by a front-axle mounted electric motor delivering 136 hp (100 kW) and 145 Nm torque, emphasising endurance and efficiency over outright speed. The vehicle comes with a 44.12 kWh battery pack, providing an electric driving range of approximately 420 km on the NEDC cycle.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes around 12 seconds, with a top speed limited to 150 km/h, reflecting its role as a city- and suburban-friendly electric hatchback. Standard models feature 16-inch wheels, while the Premium variant comes with 17-inch wheels. The vehicle is available in four exterior colours: Emerald Green, Champion Beige, Rocco White, and Seline Silver.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with a large 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay. The interior shares a design approach with the GAC Aion Y Plus, focusing on user-friendly technology integration. Standard equipment includes a six-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control with PM 2.5 filter, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree surround camera. The premium variant adds amenities such as electronically adjustable front seats, an electric tailgate with luggage compartment lighting, a wireless phone charger, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

### Market Launch Details

The Aion UT is expected to launch soon in Thailand and potentially other Southeast Asian markets as part of GAC's expansion. While an exact release date has not been publicly finalized, news reports suggest its imminent arrival in markets like Thailand, with price positioning and availability details likely to be announced near launch.
