Collaboration between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin results in a daring, full skeleton design for their latest joint timepiece, marking their most audacious partnership yet.

Introducing the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition

In a fusion of high-performance engineering and luxury design, Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux and British luxury carmaker Aston Martin have collaborated to create the limited-edition Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition. The watch, a result of the partnership established in 2021, embodies precision, performance, and aesthetics, merging the worlds of haute horlogerie and automotive motorsports.

Key Features

The watch boasts a 42mm black ceramic case and integrated bracelet, a material seven times harder than steel and practically scratchproof. The ceramic is finished with subtle texture variations, such as horizontal satin on the sides and circular satin on the octagonal bezel, with alternating polished and brushed surfaces on the bracelet.

At the heart of the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition lies the in-house GP01800 calibre, an automatic movement with a 54-hour power reserve. The movement is fully skeletonized, providing mechanical transparency, and is visible front and back, turning the watch into a "kinetic sculpture." The skeleton design reveals the mainspring, balance wheel oscillating at 4Hz, pallet lever, and escape wheel. Each of the 55 internal angles is hand-finished with four types of finishing techniques: bevelling, sandblasting, traits-tirés, and circular satin.

Aston Martin Influence

The watch features Racing Green accents on the skeletonized hands, floating hour markers, and the rotor, echoing Aston Martin's heritage. A metallized Aston Martin logo appears on the movement's back, and the watch's design language reflects the spirit of motorsports.

Limited Edition and Pricing

The Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition is a limited edition, with only 88 pieces available worldwide, priced at approximately $54,300 USD. The watch is now available through Girard-Perregaux retailers globally.

A Collaborative Partnership

Girard-Perregaux became Aston Martin’s official watch partner in 2021 under CEO Patrick Pruniaux. The partnership blends automotive precision engineering with fine watchmaking craftsmanship and materials technology, often utilizing performance materials such as titanium, carbon fiber, ceramic, and color cues that reference Aston Martin’s motorsport legacy.

In summary, the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition is a testament to extraordinary craftsmanship, material innovation, and motorsport-inspired aesthetics, bridging the gap between the high-performance engineering of Aston Martin and the watchmaking expertise of Girard-Perregaux.

The collaboration between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin extends beyond watches, as the stylish partnership also embraces cutting-edge gadgets and wearables, showcasing their shared passion for technology.

One might not usually compare a watch to a luxury vehicle, but the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition can be likened to a high-performance automotive: both are limited editions, boasting top-notch materials and craftsmanship, and echoing the spirit of motorsports.

As the collaboration continues, it's intriguing to speculate on future endeavors that could fuse automotive style with watchmaking technology, creating a unique blend of art and engineering within the realms of luxury automotive and haute horlogerie.
