Vertiv and IPCS Partner to Boost Malawi's Digital and Power Infrastructure
In a strategic move, Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has partnered with International Control Power Systems (IPCS) in Malawi. This partnership is aimed at strengthening Malawi's digital and power infrastructure, aligning with the country's National Compact for Energy, which aims to expand electricity access to 70% of the population by 2030.
IPCS, an established player in power control and renewable energy, has been appointed as Vertiv's official distribution partner in Malawi. This collaboration introduces new layers of reliability and efficiency for Malawian organizations, enabling them to build resilient infrastructure to support growing demands, including computing and AI needs, which are vital for the country's digital future.
Rumbidzai Bere, IPCS's business development and marketing director, stated that the partnership will help deliver scalable, robust solutions. Gary Chomse, Vertiv's regional director for Central and Southern Africa, described the partnership as a strategic move, demonstrating Vertiv's commitment to the Malawian market and investment in key infrastructure.
The partnership will expand IPCS's portfolio, helping deliver Vertiv's comprehensive portfolio that includes AC power solutions (single-phase and three-phase), lithium-ion compatible uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, surge protection, integrated racks and cabinets, and IT infrastructure management products.
With a young, tech-savvy population, Malawi is seen as being ready for the adoption of advanced data center solutions and AI-powered services. This partnership is expected to provide the reliable energy and IT infrastructure needed to power new industries and drive innovation in Malawi.
The impact of this partnership can be summarized as follows:
- Improved power reliability and management through advanced UPS systems and power control solutions, crucial for maintaining continuous operation of critical infrastructure.
- Support for digital infrastructure growth, including data centers and IT management, aligning with Malawi’s increasing demand for digital services.
