Comprehensive Guide on Electric Vehicle Infotainment: Nearly all the essential insights about in-car entertainment systems in electric vehicles

In the world of electric vehicles, Polestar is making a name for itself with its tech-savvy in-car entertainment system. The system, integrated with Google Home, offers a host of features designed to make driving more convenient and enjoyable.

Starting with the Polestar 2, the Google Home system runs on Android Automotive OS. This integration brings Google Assistant for voice control, Google Maps for navigation, and access to a multitude of apps via the Google Play Store. The system also supports smart home integration, allowing drivers to control their Google Home devices from the car.

The Polestar 2 comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital driver display, while the Polestar 3 boasts a 14.5-inch central touchscreen. The Polestar 4, on the other hand, features a 15.4-inch, frameless centre display. All displays have a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and are in landscape orientation, providing a clear and vivid viewing experience.

The interface layout of Polestar's in-car entertainment system is designed to be intuitive, making it easy for drivers to use apps and car functions. The switch between Polestar's menus and Google Play applications is seamless, resembling operating a tablet.

The Polestar 4 also supports Apple CarPlay, both with a wired and wireless connection. Polestar 3's wireless Apple CarPlay connection is scheduled to be available soon.

In addition to navigation and entertainment, the system also offers productivity-boosting apps, such as Zoom, Prime Video, YouTube, Tidal, Sybel, Audible, Pocket Casts, Gamesnacks, and various gaming titles. During charging breaks, drivers can utilise this entertainment system to watch TV shows, listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks, or even play games.

The system also remembers up to six drivers' settings and preferences, ensuring a personalised driving experience. It's worth noting that the first three years of in-car data are included in the price of a Polestar, keeping the car constantly connected to the Internet.

Polestar vehicles also feature the Breathe app, transforming the car into a place of rest and relaxation. The centre display serves as a central command centre for various car functions, including checking the battery charge status, activating climate functions, and controlling smart home devices.

Lastly, electric vehicle charging breaks are required less frequently than expected, and with ultra-rapid charging capabilities, these breaks usually take around half an hour or less. This makes the most of the time spent during charging, allowing drivers to make the most of their Polestar's tech-savvy entertainment system.
