Confirmation of First Foldable Phone Unveiled by Phone Manufacturer Unwavering in Innovation

Kick back, OnePlus fans! Your favorite brand is about to shake up the foldable smartphone market. Imbalance yourself and get ready, because OnePlus has just announced its first foldable smartphone – aptly named OnePlus Open. This move comes hot on the heels of the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, which saw the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. OnePlus' tweet, "OPEN when others FOLD," confirms the name of the smartphone [1].

The OnePlus Open has already made headlines, thanks to leaks from Smartprix in collaboration with Onleaks. In fact, the device was previously confirmed by these leaks [2]. GSMarena also recently leaked the renders of the Oppo Find N3, another foldable smartphone, which is rumored to launch exclusively in China. Insiders are suggesting that the OnePlus Open could be the rebranded version of the Oppo Find N3 [2].

So, the Chinese market will likely get the Oppo Find N3, while the rest of the world will get the OnePlus Open. Want more? Check out our article, "OnePlus V Fold leaks leave very little to the imagination: Should Samsung be worried?" [2].

As for the specifications of the OnePlus Open, the details are yet to be announced by the brand. However, thanks to the leaks and rumors, we have a pretty good idea.

The OnePlus Open is expected to pack a 6.3-inch cover AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, supporting up to 120Hz refresh rate [3]. There might be a punch-hole cutout on the cover screen, housing a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. The main display could be a 7.8-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1900 X 2100 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate [3]. This unfolded display is also rumored to boast a 32-megapixel selfie camera [3].

When it comes to performance, the OnePlus Open is expected to sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage [3]. A 4800mAh battery is also expected, alongside a 67-watt fast charging support [3].

As for the camera configuration, the OnePlus Open is expected to follow the configuration of the OnePlus 11, except for the telephoto sensor [3]. It might feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, 64-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens [3].

The OnePlus Open looks like it's shaping up to be a powerhouse foldable smartphone. However, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Open boasts stronger cameras [3]. Notable: these specs are based on rumors, so stay tuned for official updates!

The OnePlus Open, rumored to share many specifications with the Oppo Find N3, is expected to revolutionize the global foldable smartphone market, contrasting the exclusive release of the Oppo Find N3 in China. With a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a robust camera configuration, and impressive display features, the OnePlus Open promises to be a formidable competitor in the foldable smartphone arena, challenging the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5's dominance, particularly in the camera department.
