Confirmed UK Arrival of Kia's New Golf-Competing Hatchback, Kia K4
The Kia K4, a new addition to Kia's lineup, is set to make its way to the UK, offering a fresh option in the family hatchback class. This traditional hatchback, powered by petrol engines, serves as a counterpoint to Kia's growing range of electric SUVs.
The Kia K4 boasts a spacious interior, thanks to its 'Opposites United' design language. Inside, drivers will find a panoramic dashboard display with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 5.3-inch climate screen, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The K4 also features a floating roofline, hidden rear door handles, and 'Star Map' front lighting, inspired by the EV9 electric SUV.
When it comes to luggage space, the Kia K4 can accommodate up to 438 litres, with this space increasing to a generous 1,217 litres with the rear seats folded down. The K4 is 200mm longer than the equivalent Mk8 Volkswagen Golf, providing considerable 964mm of rear legroom.
The Kia K4 will be available with five different powertrains at launch, including a 115hp turbocharged 1.0-litre engine. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard, and the mild hybrid version comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Advanced technology features abound in the Kia K4. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are standard on all models, with an AI-powered voice assistant also included. A Harman Kardon sound system and bio-based artificial leather upholstery will be available as options.
The Kia K4 will take on the Volkswagen Golf, Honda Civic, and Toyota Corolla in the family hatchback class. The GT-Line trim will feature sportier styling, including bespoke alloy wheels and gloss black exterior trim, but no extra power.
Sjoerd Knipping, the COO of Kia Europe, announced the sales release of the Kia K4 in Europe. The K4 will go on sale this winter, with the first cars expected to arrive at UK dealers in the fourth quarter of 2025. Kia plans to add a full hybrid model later in 2026.
The Kia K4 will be produced at Kia's plant in Monterrey, Mexico. Following its public debut at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, the Kia K4 will be sold in Europe. With its spacious interior, advanced technology, and variety of powertrains, the Kia K4 is poised to make a significant impact in the family hatchback market.
