Construction of cycling path along Dornaer Straße progresses
The second phase of the bike path extension project, connecting the residential area 'Am Trebnitzer Kreuz,' is now underway. This phase will extend the path from Am Speitewitz 216 to a location yet to be specified, adding 1.540 meters to the existing path.
The construction company Naumburger Bauunion GmbH & Co. KG from Mertendorf will continue to carry out the construction and corresponding replacement plantings for this phase, as they did in the first phase. Preparatory work for the second phase is ongoing.
Three 2-meter-wide path connections to the residential area 'Am Trebnitzer Kreuz' will be established in this phase, in addition to those in the first phase. On both sides of the path, 0.50-meter-wide shoulder strips will be added, as in the first phase, ensuring safety and convenience for cyclists.
The bike path will maintain a uniform width of 2.50 meters, similar to the first phase, providing ample space for cyclists. The total cost of this second construction phase is not specified, but the overall project cost is approximately 760,000 euros.
Interestingly, 90% of the eligible costs for the project will continue to be covered by federal and state funding, as in the first phase. This funding support ensures the continuity and success of the project.
Work on the second construction phase is planned to continue until the end of 2025, concurrent with the first phase. The first construction phase, which extends from Schäfereistraße to Am Bieblacher Bach, is currently underway and is expected to be completed by the same deadline.
The bike path, upon completion, will have a total length of 1.540 meters, extending the first phase's length. This extension will significantly improve the connectivity of the bike path network in the area and promote sustainable transportation options.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
