Custom PC vendor, GeeFarce, crams a NUC within a graphics card casing in their 5027 model, boasting double the memory capacity compared to Nvidia's RTX 5090 graphics card.

Hey there! Let's dive into the mind-boggling world of custom PC building and take a closer look at the GeeFarce 5027 POS, a brainchild of CherryTree Inc. This off-the-wall creation takes the repurposing of hardware to a whole new level!

So, what's the big deal? CherryTree decided to breathe new life into an old Gigabyte GeForce graphics card that was showing its age. Instead of junking it or using it as a doorstop, they transformed it into a fully functional system! The graphics card, itself a few generations old, sports the cooler design previously used with the manufacturer's GeForce RTX 20-series (Turing) graphics cards.

examining the innards, it became apparent that CherryTree had integrated a NUC (Next Unit of Computing) into the GeeFarce 5027 POS. Although not the latest model, the Asus NUC 13 Pro still holds some impressive specs. It features the Core i7-1360P chip (known as Raptor Lake), which boasts 12 cores and 16 threads with a turbo boost clock speed up to 5 GHz on the P-cores. To top it off, it comes with integrated Iris Xe graphics, offering 96 execution units that can reach up to 1.5 GHz. CherryTree teamed the 28W Raptor Lake processor with a hefty 64GB of DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM memory and a 2TB MP33 PCIe 3.0 SSD, both sourced from TeamGroup.

Part of CherryTree's ingenuity lies in their partial use of the Gigabyte cooling system. Given the size of the NUC, the heatsink remained unutilized; however, the triple cooling fans actually helped with active cooling of the NUC's components. You can easily install the GeeFarce 5027 POS into a standard expansion slot, effectively having a PC within your PC! Although the PCIe interface on the graphics card is non-functional, CherryTree got creative and converted the 8-pin PCIe power connector into a barrel connector, ensuring the GeeFarce 5027 POS gets its power through an adapter from the wall outlet. To add the cherry on top, they even hardwired a power button onto the side of the graphics card.

The NUC 13 Pro is placed close to the graphics card's I/O bracket, providing access to a wide array of ports, just like what you'd find on a NUC 13 Pro: two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, one USB 2.0 Type-A port, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port from the Intel I226-V controller.

Although weak in the graphics department with the Iris Xe iGPU, the GeeFarce 5027 POS can still manage to run a few games. Tests indicate that titles like Doom, Doom II, and Quantum Break run smoothly on the device. To test the system further, Gamers Nexus performed synthetic tests on the GeeFarce 5027 POS and, unsurprisingly, the Iris Xe couldn't compete with a GeForce RTX 2070 Super. Power consumption was also within expectations, peaking at around 87W. The P-core, E-core, and graphics cores topped out at 75°C, 70°C, and 60°C, respectively.

Sadly, the GeeFarce 5027 POS is just a fun little project for CherryTree and isn't available for purchase. It serves as a creative showcase piece rather than a practical or high-performance solution. But hey, it's always fascinating to see what creative minds can do with old hardware!

Technology and gadgets are seamlessly blended in the GeeFarce 5022 POS, a custom creation by CherryTree Inc. Inside this off-the-wall system, you'll find a repurposed Gigabyte GeForce graphics card, now transformed into a functional system, and a NUC 13 Pro, complete with its impressive technology specs like the Core i7-1360P chip and integrated Iris Xe graphics.
