The Dubai Metro, one of the region's first systems to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) in operations, prides itself on its exceptional performance. With more than 1,800 employees working tirelessly, the network's operational accuracy reaches an impressive 99.7 per cent, placing it among the top five cities globally in terms of performance.

The Operations Control Centre (OCC) in Al Rashidiya oversees the metro's operations, ensuring adherence to schedule and smooth movement of trains across the network. The OCC is divided into specialised teams with distinct roles. One team monitors train activity within depots, while another focuses on tracking train movements and facilities.

During peak hours, special plans are prepared for crowd management, including deploying additional trains. When demand decreases during off-peak hours, the number of trains is adjusted accordingly. Regular awareness campaigns remind commuters to follow rules and practise good transit etiquette, contributing to the smooth operations of the Dubai Metro.

The Dubai Metro's impressive operational accuracy is also due to its advanced systems. Most malfunctions are resolved through remote system commands, but the first-line response team steps in when necessary. Backup arrangements with buses and taxis are in place during malfunctions or emergencies.

On average, Dubai Metro serves around 850,000 passengers per day. During major events like New Year's Eve, the number of passengers can exceed one million. The metro network experiences very few malfunctions, with six to seven incidents per year.

Smooth operations also depend on passenger cooperation and following rules and good transit etiquette. Regular reminders encourage commuters to do their part in maintaining the metro's high standard of service.

Despite the search results not providing the name of the director of Rail Maintenance at the Rail Agency responsible for the Dubai Metro, it is clear that the metro's operations are in good hands. The teams at the OCC are ready to respond immediately to any malfunction or emergency, ensuring the Dubai Metro continues to deliver an outstanding service to its passengers.
