Data center giant Equinix launches first AI-optimized facility in Chennai
Equinix, a leading global digital infrastructure company, has expanded its footprint in India with the opening of its first International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Chennai, named CN1.
The state-of-the-art data center, located in Siruseri on a nearly six-acre plot of land, will initially provide 800 cabinets of capacity, with an investment of $69 million. The data center is engineered for a high reliability of 99.999% uptime, ensuring minimal downtime for businesses.
The CN1 data center features a full suite of Equinix interconnection services, including Equinix Fabric. This allows customers in Chennai to gain low-latency access to Equinix's digital ecosystem, fostering seamless connectivity and collaboration.
The advanced design of the CN1 data center also enables support for liquid cooling technology, a sustainable and efficient cooling solution for data.
With the launch of CN1, Equinix currently hosts more than 300 companies in India, including network service providers and five internet exchanges. The data center will also be interconnected with Equinix's Mumbai campus, which consists of three IBX data centers.
Manoj Paul, Managing Director, India, Equinix, was instrumental in the opening of the IBX data center CN1 in Chennai. His leadership and expertise have been crucial in expanding Equinix's operations in India.
The opening of the CN1 data center marks a significant milestone for Equinix in India and underscores its commitment to providing world-class digital infrastructure solutions to businesses in the region.
