Deep-Sea Alliance Debuts for Progressing Monopile Technology in UK Ocean Depths
In a significant development for the offshore wind industry, Entrion Wind's Top Mooring Assembly (TMA) monopile technology has received a formal Statement of Feasibility from DNV. This announcement follows the successful completion of the Technology Qualification (TQ) process.
The TMA monopile technology is part of Entrion Wind's technology portfolio that is currently being demonstrated in the UK waters. The technology, which is a component of Entrion Wind's overall monopile foundation technology portfolio, is designed for use in offshore wind projects.
The FRP monopile, a key component of the TMA monopile technology, is designed to extend the use of monopile foundations into water depths of up to 100 metres. However, specific details about the depths it can handle were not provided in the article.
Global Maritime, a leading provider of transportation and installation engineering services, has been enlisted to provide their expertise throughout the lifecycle of Entrion Wind's UK demonstration project.
In addition, Entrion Wind has commissioned TGS 4C to provide a UK-specific report on the potential of the FRP technology. The company is also preparing a labour and economic impact study on how the FRP technology can benefit local industries and employment.
Interestingly, the TMA monopile technology development and demonstration are not explicitly mentioned as part of the partnership between Entrion Wind and Global Maritime. Instead, the partnership focuses on advancing Entrion Wind's Fully Restrained Platform (FRP) monopile foundation technology.
In a separate development, Entrion Wind and Simply Blue Group announced in July 2024 that they would jointly explore the feasibility of the Fully Restrained Platform monopile. This collaboration also includes the development of a generic T&I framework for the FRP technology. The TMA monopile technology is not mentioned as part of this collaboration.
Entrion Wind's TMA Monopile technology and the Fully Restrained Platform monopile foundation technology are just two of the offerings from Entrion Wind, showcasing the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the offshore wind sector.
