Digital Insurance Debuts in Uzbekistan, Marking a New Sector for Expansion of Existing Ecosystem
TBC Uzbekistan, a leading digital banking ecosystem in Central Asia, has entered the insurance sector with the launch of a fully digital insurance product called TBC Insurance. This new offering, integrated into the TBC UZ banking app, is designed to provide users with a seamless, digital-first customer experience[1][2][3].
The product initially focuses on credit life insurance, with plans to expand into a full suite of personal insurance products in the future[4]. TBC Uzbekistan obtained a life insurance license from the National Agency of Perspective Projects of Uzbekistan in March 2025, and the soft launch began in April 2025. Since then, there has been strong demand, with over 140,000 policies delivered[3][4].
Ekaterina Lotuashvili, an industry veteran with 25 years of experience, including work at Lloyd’s of London, leads the TBC Insurance business[3][4]. This expansion aligns with TBC Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to deepen customer engagement and strengthen trust in its ecosystem[2].
Nika Kurdiani, CEO of TBC Uzbekistan, sees insurance as a natural extension of the TBC Uzbekistan ecosystem. Over the past year, TBC Uzbekistan has launched a series of new products, including the Salom debit card, Osmon credit card, and SME banking and lending services[1][2][3]. These launches have created powerful synergies, promoting deeper customer engagement across its ecosystem.
TBC Bank Group, which operates TBC Uzbekistan, is a leading provider of modern, tech-enabled financial services in the Caucasus and Central Asia. TBC Bank Group operates TBC Georgia, the leading financial services provider in Georgia with a significant market share in customer loans and deposits[5].
TBC Uzbekistan's registered user base now exceeds 50% of the country's population, and year-on-year growth in Q1 2025 saw its revenue and loan book double[1][2][3]. The launch of TBC Insurance is intended to empower customers to feel more secure and in control of their financial lives.
