Digital Network Expansion in Heusenstamm:providing Wi-Fi access for everyone

In a significant stride towards enhancing digital connectivity, the "Public Wi-Fi for Heusenstamm" project is underway, financially supported by the state program "Digital Village Linden". This initiative aims to establish a total of 40 hotspots at 18 locations across Heusenstamm and Rembrücken.

The project, which received the green light from the city council in September 2023, is a testament to the city's commitment to digital progress. The mayor, Steffen Ball, has emphasised the importance of digital offers in the city's digital strategy.

The new digital access points will be named "Hessen WLAN" and can be found under this network name. Users can subscribe to a free newsletter to stay updated on news from the city and district of Offenbach. To confirm your newsletter subscription, please check your inbox or spam folder.

The project coordination is handled by the municipal IT department and the digitalization department. The employees of the public works department are responsible for the technical implementation.

The hotspots will be strategically placed at various locations, including the Frankfurter Straße, the train station, and the fire station in Heusenstamm. Additional locations are in preparation.

The digital participation offered by "Digital Village Linden" provides added value to both citizens and guests of all generations. The digital access points offer a secure and family-friendly environment, as users remain invisible to each other and content with youth-endangering or questionable content is blocked.

For more information about the newsletter and the project's privacy policy, please visit the website heusenstamm.de, where an interactive Wi-Fi map provides an overview of all active and planned hotspots. The digital access points are protected by various filter mechanisms and do not store personal data.

This project is part of the state program's efforts to make digital access more accessible and to promote digital participation in rural areas. With the implementation of these 40 hotspots, Heusenstamm and Rembrücken are set to join the digital revolution.
