Disclosed: Blueprint for Ola's Electric Motorbike Unveiled Illegally
In a significant move, Ola Electric, the Indian electric vehicle (EV) company, has confirmed its entry into the electric motorcycle market. The company is set to launch an entry-level electric motorcycle, priced around ₹1 lakh to ₹1.15 lakh (ex-showroom), which is expected to offer a range of approximately 100 km.
The new electric motorcycle from Ola Electric is designed with a focus on efficiency and affordability. The narrow tyres, typically found on 125-150 cc commuter motorcycles, help reduce rolling resistance, potentially increasing the bike's efficiency and range. The alloy wheel design appears to be 17-inch units, adding to the bike's modern look.
Last year, Ola Electric showcased four concept models - Diamondhead, Adventure, Cruiser, and Roadster. However, the new design, which has surfaced online recently, seems to be a production model, suggesting it might be the first bike Ola Electric releases in the electric motorcycle market. The design is described as unorthodox and minimal with a sharp body.
The battery and motor, key components of the electric motorcycle, are yet to be detailed. It is expected that they will be housed in a modified dual-cradle frame architecture, a departure from the engine and gearbox in a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) bike. The hardware components of the motorcycle, such as the type of suspension, have not been provided yet.
The Ola electric motorcycle is expected to compete with the Revolt RV400 and the Tork Kratos R in the Indian market. It's worth noting that the electric motorcycle market in India already includes companies like Ultraviolette, Tork Motors, and Revolt.
This motorcycle might be Ola Electric's entry-level offering, with simpler hardware components like the telescopic fork and dual-shock absorbers. Despite the lack of specific details about the hardware components, the focus on affordability and efficiency promises an attractive option for Indian consumers looking for an electric motorcycle.
A new design patent of an electric bike from Ola Electric has surfaced online, adding to the anticipation surrounding the launch of the electric motorcycle. As Ola Electric prepares to enter the electric motorcycle market, it remains to be seen how the industry will respond to this affordable and efficient offering.
