Disconnecting from Digital Devices: A Break from Technology
On September 4th, the City Library in the Town Hall Passage will host a free workshop titled "Digital Detox - Mindful Offline." This event, open to adults and young people aged 14 and above, aims to help participants question their digital usage and navigate media more consciously.
The workshop will take place from 4 PM to 5 PM and participants are asked to bring their own digital devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) to the session. Registration for the workshop can be done through the contact form on the City Library's website or via Instagram (@stabigram).
During the workshop, attendees will learn about the concept of a Digital Detox, its meaning, and how to implement it. The event will delve into the reasons for excessive digital media use and analyze its impacts on mental health, such as reduced sleep quality, increased stress and anxiety, and diminished focus.
Participants will be guided through strategies to mindfully manage technology, create intentional breaks, and foster healthier digital habits. The workshop will provide tips and tricks for conscious media usage, aiming to help individuals reduce their screen time without sacrificing the benefits of digital media.
Attendees will also learn to be aware of why, when, and how they use screens, encouraging mindful engagement rather than passive consumption. The workshop will include training on managing digital distractions, recognizing signs of digital addiction, and developing personalized strategies to cut down screen time.
In addition, the workshop will promote alternative activities to reduce reliance on screens and boost well-being. These may include outdoor time, yoga, meditation, journaling, or face-to-face socializing. Group discussions, family workshops, or ongoing coaching can also help maintain progress and accountability over time.
By combining education, mindfulness, goal-setting, alternative activities, and support, this digital detox workshop seeks to empower individuals to consciously reduce screen use and improve their mental and emotional well-being.
For more information, please visit the City Library's website or follow @stabigram on Instagram. The contact information for questions is available on both platforms. Don't miss this opportunity to take a step towards a more mindful and balanced relationship with technology!
