Zestfully Yours:
DoorDash to handle delivery services for Best Buy's products
Best Buy, hopping on the bandwagon, teams up with DoorDash to deliver electronics from all their stores nationwide, as announced on a recent press release. This collaboration allows shoppers to have tech goodies like computers, gaming controllers, headphones, TVs, and more, delivered to their doorstep in about an hour. DashPass members enjoy free delivery on eligible orders with a minimum subtotal.
Best Buy becomes the premier electronics retailer on DoorDash’s platform. The delivery service has also formed partnerships with other popular retailers like Victoria's Secrets, Lush Cosmetics, Party City, Staples, and Petco in the past year.
According to Fuad Hannon, Vice President of New Verticals at DoorDash, “This combo gives consumers quick access to Best Buy's wide range of specialty electronics, all thanks to the speed and convenience DoorDash offers. This holiday season now presents an excellent opportunity for consumers to pick up tech gifts for everyone on their list, right from the DoorDash app.”
In the competitive retailer landscape, offering alternative delivery methods has become crucial, especially leading up to the holiday season. Etsy has promoted its Purchase Protection program, while Sur La Table has teamed up with Walmart GoLocal’s same-day delivery service for efficient holiday deliveries.
In addition to offering fast shipping, Best Buy has also expanded its product offerings. In May 2022, Best Buy began stocking electric transportation, outdoor living, and wellness products in its brick-and-mortar stores, and added products from home gym company Tonal last week.
Best Buy is diversifying its retail experience by diving into livestream commerce. Recently, the retailer partnered with TalkShopLive, a livestream shopping platform, to host a holiday shopping series. With increasing competition and a challenging retail climate, Best Buy aims to cater to more customers and stay afloat during the crucial holiday season. In their Q3 report, Best Buy reported a 7.8% dip in revenue and a 3% drop in operating income, prompting them to lower their annual guidance due to uncertainty in consumer demand.
