In a recent development, a Ukrainian citizen has been charged and fined for violating air traffic rules, following an incident involving a drone in Warsaw on September 15, 2025.

The drone, which was placed in a restricted zone, was found to have been launched by the Ukrainian individual. The incident, which involved government buildings on Belwederska and Parkowa streets, led to the involvement of the Internal Security Agency (ISA) and border services.

However, the ISA has ruled out any connections to hostile entities, stating that there is no evidence of espionage or work on behalf of foreign intelligence agencies. The Belarusian involved in the incident was questioned as a witness and later released, with no evidence linking them to the alleged offence.

The Ukrainian citizen, who was charged under Article 212 of the 'Air Law', was fined approximately Br3,370 (zł4,000) and will also face a ban from entering Schengen countries for five years.

The drone, seized for analysis of recordings and to determine the intentions of those involved, was one of multiple Russian drones of the Iranian Shahed type that intruded into Polish airspace in September 2025. This incident resulted in military and political responses, but it appears that this particular event was not a spy operation as initially suspected.

Jacek Dobrzyński, the Press secretary of the Minister-Coordinator of special services, confirmed that the incident was not a spy operation. The young people involved in the incident, a 17-year-old Belarusian and a 21-year-old Ukrainian, were located in Łazienkowski Park.

The Polish authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are committed to maintaining the safety and security of its citizens and government buildings.
