As per the official announcements, Dune: Prophecy will focus on the lives of two Harkonnen sisters as they battle forces that hold the fate of humanity in their hands. Their actions will eventually give rise to the elite Bene Gesserit sect.
Leading the cast is Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen, Jodhi May as Empress Natalya, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina as Princess Ynez, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Mikaela, Faoileann Cunningham as Sister Jen, Aoife Hinds as Sister Emeline, Chloe Lea as Lila, Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Corrino, Jade Anouka as Sister Theodosia, and Chris Mason as Keiran Atreides.
The press release also mentions that Alison Schapker takes on the triple role of series showrunner, head writer, and executive producer, alongside Diane Ademu-John who co-developed the series and serves as executive producer. Other noteworthy individuals include Anna Foerster as executive producer and director of multiple episodes, including the first, and Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, Jon Spaihts, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson as executive producers, among others. That's quite an impressive lineup of 12 executive producers!
Though an official release date hasn't been set yet, Dune: Prophecy is expected to premiere on HBO and Max this November. Will you be tuning in? Will this TV show about a sisterhood of child-marrying, sex-obsessed eugenicists find its place alongside HBO's other award-winning shows centered around themes of incest, cults, and incestuous cults? I jest, of course—just a little tongue-in-cheek humor!
