EA expresses optimism to investors, anticipating a successful reveal of Battlefield this summer, claiming that when executed correctly, Battlefield can lead as the largest shooter game of the year.

Here's the deal: EA's taken a beating after Battlefield 2042, so they're goin' all-in on player feedback for the next installment. They're callin' it "the most epic Battlefield yet," with the "heaviest crew" ever working on it, claimin' they've learnt their lesson from ol' 2042.

The bloke runnin' the show, Andrew Wilson, has been tellin' investors about this new game for a minute now. Seems like a "core group" of beta testers have already put in thousands of hours, playtestin' the hell outta it.

Wilson likes to talk a big game, but he ain't shy about admitin' they didn't always listen to players in the past. He says they didn't do a good job of sharin' what they were workin' on, and they didn't always understand what the Battlefield fans really wanted.

This time around, they want the player base and the global community to be more involved, with better communication and more opportunities to provide feedback on map design, weapon selection, progression, and all the other cool stuff that makes Battlefield, well, Battlefield.

It's worth mentionin' this is the first Battlefield game since series veterans Vince Zampella and Infinity Ward took the reins. Plus, there's a bunch of other studios gettin' in on the action, aside from series originator DICE.

Ripple Effect, famous for their Portal custom servers mode in 2042, is workin' on a new Battlefield experience. Motive, the studio behind the Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons, is doin' single-player stuff. Criteorion, the Need for Speed crew, is workin' on Battlefield too, along with another "Central Tech Team."

Morgan Park and I got a runnin' joke about Battlefield. We reckon each new Battlefield is the worst Battlefield 'til the next one comes out, but then it magically becomes the best Battlefield. We wonder how EA keeps messin' up and then gettin' it right again.

Will the next Battlefield finally break this cycle? It's hard to tell with Battlefield 2042 receivin' such a bitter response. But it is amusin' to see Delta Force, a free-to-play shooter borrowin' a lot from 2042, doin' really well on Steam today.

EA's also openin' up the Battlefield Labs playtest program for more players as they gear up for a summer reveal. All we've got so far is a ten-second clip in the Battlefield Labs video. You can find supposed leaks if you look hard enough, but it looks like a typical Battlefield game, no surprises there.
