Egypt Introduces Cybersecurity Academy Version 2, Aiming to Educate 5,000 Adolescents and Students in Digital Defense

The National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) has announced the launch of the second edition of the Cybersecurity Academy for Emergence and Youth, a national initiative aimed at building digital resilience among Egypt's youth. This year's academy is Egypt's largest national effort to empower young people with digital skills.

The program, which remains free of charge, includes interactive lectures, cybersecurity games and challenges, hands-on workshops, and age-appropriate projects designed to enhance digital competence. It is under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and is being organized in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the National Center for Computer and Network Emergencies (EG-CERT).

The academy aims to train 5,000 participants, divided into three age-based groups: school students (ages 10-17), university students, and graduates of universities and institutes. Two thousand school students will be trained on safe internet practices and digital awareness, while 1,000 graduates of universities and institutes will undergo advanced technical and hands-on cybersecurity training in collaboration with sponsoring companies.

Global tech leaders including Palo Alto Networks, Google Cloud Security, F5, Trellix, and MCS are supporting the Cybersecurity Academy. Participants will receive accredited academic certificates, a first for the academy. Additionally, the academy offers group transport from central collection points in selected regions.

The application process typically involves pre-requisites such as prior coursework (introductory networking and cybersecurity classes) to ensure readiness, attending information sessions or orientation meetings, completing a commitment or agreement form by specified deadlines, and some programs may require students to coordinate with their academic advisors regarding credit recognition.

Applications for the first phase of the academy are now open and will be held across 10 governorates: Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Menoufia, Mansoura, Benha, Fayoum, Port Said, Assiut, Qena, and Aswan. The first phase of the academy will focus on training university students to receive technical and freelance skills training to prepare them for digital careers.

Based on similar current offerings, you can expect a structured, age-appropriate curriculum, institutional sponsorship, and a formal application with deadlines and prerequisites.
