Electronic Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), Polestar 3, sets a record by travelling an impressive 581 miles on pure electric power.

In an impressive feat, the Polestar 3, Polestar's flagship electric SUV, has broken the world record for the longest distance traveled on a single charge. The vehicle managed to cover an astonishing 581.3 miles (935.44 km), surpassing the previous record held by the Ford Mustang Mach-E by a significant margin.

The key factors contributing to this unprecedented achievement include the Polestar 3's efficient single-motor powertrain, low-rolling-resistance tires, expert hypermiling driving techniques, suitable weather conditions, and a dedicated team of drivers.

The record-breaking drive was undertaken with a completely unmodified vehicle, even using the standard Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres. The Polestar 3's new Long Range version, equipped with a 107kWh battery and a single 295bhp motor on the rear axle, was used for this remarkable accomplishment.

The three professional efficiency drivers employed expert hypermiling techniques—maintaining moderate speeds on mostly flat A and B roads (~40 mph), braking early to maximize regenerative braking, and gentle acceleration—to minimize energy consumption. They chose a day with mixed but moderate weather conditions, warm enough to avoid using the air conditioning but not so hot as to require cooling, which helps reduce accessory power draw.

The drivers rotated every three hours over nearly 23 hours to maintain optimal focus and efficiency throughout the continuous drive. This teamwork and endurance played a crucial role in the Polestar 3's ability to exceed its WLTP rated range (438 miles) and continue even beyond 0% battery state-of-charge with an additional 8 miles driven on 'empty'.

Interestingly, the Polestar 3's efficiency during the test drive is in line with the official WLTP efficiency figures of some small electric cars weighing around two-thirds as much as the 2.4-tonne Polestar 3. This demonstrates the impressive energy efficiency of the Polestar 3, surpassing many competitors.

While the Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup truck recently claimed a distance of 1060 miles on a single charge, that was with light modifications and took seven days to complete. In comparison, the Polestar 3's record-chasing run was conducted on open public roads, including single-track lanes, dual carriageways, and B-roads, reflecting real-world driving conditions.

The Polestar 3's record-breaking drive serves as a testament to the potential of electric vehicles in terms of range and efficiency. It is a significant step forward in the world of electric mobility and sets a new benchmark for electric SUVs.

The Polestar 3's record-breaking drive, achieved on open public roads with standard tires and a single-motor powertrain, showcases the vehicle's impressive energy efficiency, even surpassing some smaller electric cars in terms of mileage per charge. This achievement further highlights the potential of electric-vehicles, particularly electric SUVs, in offering longer driving ranges and improved lifestyle choices for consumers.

Taking into account the experts' hypermiling techniques, suitable weather conditions, and careful route selection, technology advancements in electric-vehicles have undeniably transformed the landscape of personal transportation, with cars like the Polestar 3 redefining what's possible in terms of range and efficiency.
