UAE Deploys Groundbreaking Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU for Enhanced 5G Network

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made a significant stride in the realm of 5G network technology with the deployment of the GCC's first Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU on its live 5G network. This innovative technology, developed by Huawei, integrates two key frequency bands (2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz) into a single, intelligent radio unit.

This integration results in substantially improved network performance, coverage, and speed while halving the required equipment at mobile sites. The Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU boasts 384 antenna units, double the capacity of traditional units, enhancing indoor and busy area connectivity by 30 to 60%.

This deployment marks a breakthrough in compact, high-capacity network hardware. It also reduces both the equipment footprint by 60% and deployment time, enabling quicker and more efficient network rollouts.

The Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU deployment is a strategic step towards the UAE's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2030 and 5G-Advanced. By merging multiple frequency bands in one unit, it simplifies network architecture, saves energy, and reduces material use, contributing to both technological advancement and environmental sustainability in the UAE’s digital infrastructure.

Smart energy saving features, such as symbol-level sleep, further lower energy consumption by an additional 15% during low traffic periods, making this a smarter, greener way to deliver better connectivity to customers.

Abdulrahman Al Humaidan, the Senior Vice President/Access Network Development at e& UAE, commented, "The Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU deployment reinforces e& UAE’s commitment to building smarter, more sustainable 5G networks."

This deployment significantly enhances 5G network performance through improved coverage, speed, and capacity. It reduces energy consumption, supporting greener telecom operations. Moreover, it minimizes hardware footprint and deployment complexity, enabling faster and more efficient network growth.

In summary, the Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU deployment significantly:

  • Enhances 5G network performance through improved coverage, speed, and capacity.
  • Reduces energy consumption, supporting greener telecom operations.
  • Minimizes hardware footprint and deployment complexity, enabling faster and more efficient network growth.
  • Supports national sustainability goals and prepares the network for future 5G-Advanced capabilities.

This is a strategic step in building a smarter, more sustainable digital future for the UAE.

The Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU's integration into the UAE's live 5G network signifies the country's strides in technology, merging two key frequency bands and improving network performance, coverage, and speed. By deploying this mobile technology, the UAE aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 and 5G-Advanced, simultaneously focusing on technological advancement and environmental sustainability in their digital infrastructure.

The innovative MetaAAU boasts a reduced equipment footprint and deployment time, facilitating quicker and more efficient network rollouts – all while supporting greener telecom operations with smart energy saving features. In essence, the deployment of this cutting-edge technology contributes to a smarter, greener digital future for the UAE.
