The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made a significant stride in the realm of 5G network technology with the deployment of the GCC's first Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU on its live 5G network. This innovative technology, developed by Huawei, integrates two key frequency bands (2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz) into a single, intelligent radio unit.
This integration results in substantially improved network performance, coverage, and speed while halving the required equipment at mobile sites. The Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU boasts 384 antenna units, double the capacity of traditional units, enhancing indoor and busy area connectivity by 30 to 60%.
This deployment marks a breakthrough in compact, high-capacity network hardware. It also reduces both the equipment footprint by 60% and deployment time, enabling quicker and more efficient network rollouts.
The Dual-Band 64T64R MetaAAU deployment is a strategic step towards the UAE's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2030 and 5G-Advanced. By merging multiple frequency bands in one unit, it simplifies network architecture, saves energy, and reduces material use, contributing to both technological advancement and environmental sustainability in the UAE’s digital infrastructure.
