Enhanced Mobile Network Coverage in Rhine-Lahn Region by Telekom
In a significant boost for mobile connectivity in the Rhein-Lahn district, Deutsche Telekom has recently expanded its mobile network, enhancing the availability of fast mobile internet for numerous households and businesses.
The expansion includes the construction of three new mobile sites in Bad Ems, Dahlheim, and Dierdorf, as well as the modernization of an existing site in Lahnstein. These sites have been equipped with the latest technology, including LTE and one site with 5G, to cater to the increasing demand for bandwidth.
Deutsche Funkturm, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, is responsible for building these mobile sites. The company's spokesperson, Julia della Peruta, stated that the company is maintaining its pace in mobile network expansion to meet the growing demand for bandwidth.
The improved coverage extends to several railway lines, including Ludwigshafen-Saarbrücken, Mainz-Cologne, and Rhineland-Palatinate North. This development means that passengers on these lines will also benefit from better mobile connectivity.
The modernization of these sites has significantly increased the supply of fast mobile internet, benefiting residents in Dahlheim, Dierdorf, and Lahnstein. In fact, the improved coverage now includes 98% of the district's population.
Telekom currently operates 60 mobile sites in the Rhein-Lahn district, and plans to add another 27 sites over the next three years. Furthermore, the company plans to expand 19 mobile sites with LTE or 5G technology.

The company relies on cooperation with municipalities or owners to rent areas for new sites, with landlords receiving a long-term, location-based rent.

The demand for bandwidth is increasing by around 30% per year, making the company's efforts in network expansion crucial for maintaining reliable and high-speed mobile internet access for its customers.
