The Matrox Vion IP video gateway boasts an impressive array of capabilities, including encoding, transcoding, transcoding, transmuxing, scaling, and color space conversion. One of the key benefits of the Matrox Vion IP video gateway is its ability to encode a source suitable for both on-prem and cloud consumption. It can bridge islands of video productions and harmonize all incoming streams to a mezzanine format, making it ideal for the current trend of moving broadcast live production to the cloud or using generic COTS IT equipment on-prem.

The Matrox Vion IP video gateway can convert content from various IP video formats, including NDI6, NDIHX3, IPMX, ST 2110, SRT, RTSP, and others. Its powerful H.264 and H.265 encoding capabilities allow for the transcoding of low compression production formats like NDI6 or JPEG-XS over 2110-22 to cloud or internet-friendly formats over SRT.
In addition to the Matrox Vion IP video gateway, Matrox Video is also showcasing the Monarch EDGE encoder/decoder at the NAB Show New York. This device has been a standout performer for remote production and contribution, and its version 2.08 release includes new features such as reprogrammable I/O, encoder and decoder previews/thumbnails, SRT Connection bonding, and custom PIDs.
Broadcasters are looking to implement flexible, scalable, and cost-efficient workflows to meet modern media consumption habits and demand.
