Expanding its XENSIV MEMS microphone range, Infineon now offers top-tier audio and power efficiency.
Infineon Technologies AG, a leading provider of semiconductor solutions, has announced the introduction of two new digital PDM microphones: the IM72D128V and IM69D129F. These microphones, originating from the 1990s and initially used primarily in the automotive and industrial electronics industries, are now making their way into a broader range of applications.
Both microphones comply with IEC (60747, 60749) and JEDEC (47/20/22) standards, ensuring their high quality and reliability. They are designed to enhance energy efficiency and reliability, especially in challenging environments.
The IM72D128V and IM69D129F are equipped with a low-noise preamplifier and a sigma-delta ADC, providing digital PDM output. This setup ensures precise sound reproduction, with an 11 Hz flat frequency response.
The IM72D128V operates at ultra-low power consumption, with 430 μA in high-performance mode and 160 μA in low-power mode. Its footprint is 4 x 3 x 1.2 mm3, making it suitable for far-field audio pick-up or portable devices. The IM72D128V is designed for use in demanding environments, with a level of robustness against water and dust (IP57).
On the other hand, the IM69D129F is tailored for compact design, with a footprint of 3.5 x 2.65 x 0.98 mm3. It achieves reliable audio performance with an SNR of 69 dB(A) and operates at low power consumption, with 450 μA in high-performance mode and 170 μA in low-power mode. The IM69D129F is particularly suited for multi-microphone designs in compact systems.
Both microphones leverage Infineon's proprietary Sealed Dual Membrane (SDM) technology for robustness. They have a ±1 dB sensitivity tolerance, making them ideal for multi-microphone arrays.
The new microphones offer exceptional audio quality, low power consumption, and high durability. They can be used in a variety of applications, including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) headphones and earbuds, as well as high-quality audio capturing in laptops, tablets, conference systems, and cameras.
Moreover, these microphones support Voice User Interface (VUI) applications in smart speakers, automotive infotainment, IoT devices, and home and industrial automation. They can also be used in industrial or home monitoring applications that require audio pattern detection, such as industrial monitoring and home security systems.
In conclusion, Infineon Technologies AG's new digital PDM microphones, the IM72D128V and IM69D129F, are set to revolutionise the audio industry with their high performance, low power consumption, and robust design.
