FAW's Hongqi H6 to Feature Horizon Robotics' AI Chips, Boosting Autonomous Driving
FAW's Hongqi brand is set to incorporate Horizon Robotics' chips into its upcoming Hongqi H6 model, marking a significant step in their collaborative efforts. This move follows a strategic investment from FAW Group in Horizon Robotics, aiming to bolster AI chip technology development.
Horizon Robotics, known for its Journey series of chips, has seen rapid adoption in the automotive industry. The company has partnered with over 20 car manufacturers, with its chips featuring in more than 70 models. The Journey 3 chip is already in use in the 2021 Li ONE model, demonstrating the company's progress.
The latest Journey 5 chip, launched in 2021, is set to feature in some of BYD's 2023 models. FAW, on the other hand, plans to build a high-level autonomous driving solution using multiple Journey 5 chips. This solution will be integrated into the Hongqi H6, showcasing the brand's commitment to advanced technology.
Nio is also exploring the use of Horizon Robotics' chips, with potential mass production in its sub-branded models by the end of 2023. This interest from major automakers underscores Horizon Robotics' growing influence in the industry.
By the end of 2021, Horizon Robotics' cumulative shipments of Journey family chips had surpassed 1 million. With the Hongqi H6 set to hit the market and other automakers expressing interest, the company's future in the automotive sector looks promising. This collaboration between FAW and Horizon Robotics not only benefits the Hongqi brand but also signals a shift towards more advanced AI technology in the automotive industry.
