Expanding Fiber Optic Network in Dröper and Kloster Oesede

Deutsche Glasfaser, the leading fiber optic provider for rural areas in Germany, is set to bring stable and future-proof infrastructure to the communities of Dröper and Kloster Oesede. The project aims to enable home office, internet telephony, and streaming of series, providing an alternative to commuting, linear television, and landline services.

To make this a reality, citizens play a crucial role. Here's how they can contribute:

  1. Expression of Interest / Registration Phase:
  2. Residents can show their interest in getting fiber optic internet by registering on Deutsche Glasfaser’s platform or through local campaigns.
  3. A minimum percentage of households in a community (commonly around 40-50%) must commit before the company moves forward with the network build in that area.
  4. Information Events and Local Support:
  5. Citizens can attend information sessions, town meetings, or consultation events to learn about the benefits, costs, and process.
  6. Sharing information with neighbors, encouraging them to sign up, and forming local support groups can help reach the required participation rate.
  7. Signing the Contract:
  8. Once the minimum sign-up threshold is reached, Deutsche Glasfaser proceeds with the construction phase and contract signing.
  9. Contracts typically detail the service packages, installation costs, monthly fees, and terms of service.
  10. Residents need to carefully review and sign these contracts to guarantee their connection once the network is ready.
  11. Often there is a deadline to sign, and contracts may be binding for a set period (e.g., 24 months).
  12. Installation and Connection:
  13. After the contract is signed and construction finished, Deutsche Glasfaser installs the fiber connection to the property (Fiber to the Home).
  14. Citizens may need to coordinate installation dates and provide access to their property during setup.

It's important to note that latecomers can still be connected, but they must bear the connection costs of 1,500 euros themselves. The deadline for citizens to conclude a contract is November 8, 2025. If the contract quota in the expansion area reaches at least 33 percent, an important prerequisite for the expansion of the fiber optic network is met.

Deutsche Glasfaser sees itself as a reliable partner of municipalities and people on site, driving the fiber optic expansion quickly and unbureaucratically forward. The new fiber optic infrastructure takes into account all households in the expansion areas.

For more information, residents can contact Christian Morag, the project manager of Deutsche Glasfaser. Citizens in the expansion areas can conclude a contract with Deutsche Glasfaster to receive a free fiber optic connection up to their house or apartment.

  1. Through registering their interest on Deutsche Glasfaser's platform or participating in local campaigns, residents contribute by showing their support for the expansion of the fiber optic network in Dröper and Kloster Oesede.
  2. As technology advancements enable improved home office, internet telephony, and streaming capabilities, the new fiber optic infrastructure from Deutsche Glasfaser serves as a future-proof solution for the communities in question.
