Fortnite's latest season, "Shock ‘N Awesome", has drawn comparisons to Arrowhead Studios' Helldivers franchise due to the introduction of bug-type enemies. However, it's important to clarify that there is no official crossover or confirmed connection between the two games.

The similarity appears to be coincidental or possibly an unacknowledged inspiration. Arrowhead Studios' CEO, Shams Jorjani, and community manager, Katherine Baskin, have publicly acknowledged the likeness, finding it flattering but not cause for concern or rivalry. They consider Fortnite and Helldivers very different games and see room for both in the gaming landscape.

Fans and some media have speculated and hoped for an official Helldivers x Fortnite crossover, especially given Fortnite’s precedents with other franchises like Power Rangers and Halo appearing in the same season. However, as of now, this remains speculative without any announcement or tease from either party.

In Fortnite's latest season, players can also find reinforcements in the form of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Halo's Red and Blue Spartans. Furthermore, Halo-themed skins are available in Fortnite's Battle Pass.

On a separate note, Helldivers 2, which centers around humanity's "Great Democratization", has already enjoyed success on PS5 and PC. The game is scheduled to release on August 20, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, marking the first time Sony has published a game directly on Xbox hardware.

Epic Games has reported that players have squashed over 500 million bugs since the new Fortnite season launched, demonstrating the community's engagement in the game. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 has been well-received by players and critics alike.

Both Arrowhead's Community Manager and CEO treated the similarities as harmless fun rather than a serious issue. Arrowhead's CEO also responded with a light-hearted comment about Fortnite's season being "democratic". Despite the comparisons, it seems that both Fortnite and Helldivers are carving out their unique spaces in the gaming world.
