Future Galaxy S26 Edge from Samsung may feature a slimmer design and innovative battery technology
Rumors are circulating about Samsung's plans for the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge, suggesting that the company might use a new battery technology called SUS CAN (silicon-carbon) to increase battery capacity and maintain a slim form factor.
The SUS CAN technology is said to offer higher energy density, allowing for more power to be stored in the same physical space or the same power in a smaller space. This could potentially lead to larger battery capacities in the Galaxy S26 Edge, with some leaks suggesting a capacity increase from the current 3,900mAh to between 4,200mAh and 4,400mAh.
If these rumors hold true, the Galaxy S26 Edge might become even thinner than the S25 Edge, which currently has a profile of around 5.8mm. The S25 Edge was marketed with the "beyond slim" tagline and features a 6.7-inch display and a dual camera array with a 200MP primary lens.
The use of SUS CAN technology could also improve charging speeds for future Galaxy phones. While details on charging speeds for the S26 Edge are still unclear, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to move from 45W to 60W charging. The new battery materials could also contribute to better thermal management and efficiency, indirectly supporting faster or safer charging cycles.
The second-generation launch of the Galaxy S26 Edge is still some time away, so further details about the device are likely to emerge in the coming months. However, it's clear that Samsung is exploring innovative ways to improve the battery life and charging capabilities of its flagship smartphones.
